Heavy metals are increasingly released into our environment, causing problems in subtle yet dramatic ways.
Heavy metals have been shown to affect:
- Cognitive and neural development
- Kidney health
- HDL cholesterol levels
- And much more
Heavy metals compromise brain health, kidney health, hematopoiesis, cancer protection, and thyroid hormone activation, leading to all sorts of issues. Additionally, higher levels of heavy metals are found in people with autism and other neuro-developmental delays.
There are many heavy metal testing options, including testing for urine porphyrins, hair mineral testing, urine metal testing, and blood testing. Each test has its advantages and weaknesses, and we are able to offer all types of testing to our clients. Hair mineral testing is usually the most valuable test because of its ease, low cost, and relatively wide applicability.
Often our detoxification pathways are less efficient than they could be because of excess demands and stress placed upon our systems. Blood chemistry and overall health panels can give indications of heavy metal toxicity and are recommended.
