Benefits of a Vaginal Steam:
Vaginal Steam brings warmth and healing to the womb. The bath aids as a uterine lavage or internal cleanse of the membranes that often accumulate incompletely flushed debris/fluids from cycle to cycle. In addition, the bath introduces healing warmth and softens and nourishes internal membranes. The herbs and infrared heat nourish, heal, tone and bring in fresh oxygenated blood, promote cleansing and restore vitality to vaginal and uterine tissues.
Moist heat opens the pores and the water vapor carries the medicinal benefits of the plants, including volatile oils contained within the whole plant creating more circulation for absorption by the vagina.
Vaginal steaming is ideal for fertility enhancement:
If you are in a natural cycle, steam once within a few days after your period, and then once just before ovulation but before intercourse (we don’t want sperm to become heated).
If you are taking Clomid, steam once when you first start your Clomid medication, and then once just before ovulation but before intercourse/IUI. A side effect of Clomid may be a decrease in cervical mucous. The steam will help increase this mucous.
If you are doing an injectable IUI cycle, steam once when you first begin your stimulation drugs, and then once the day before or morning of your IUI procedure. Steaming before your IUI procedure helps to liquefy the cervical mucous and creates a lubricated path for the insertion of the catheter through the cervix.
If you are doing an IVF cycle, steam once when you first begin your stimulation drugs, and then once the day before your transfer.
You should not do a V Steam during your menstrual cycle. You should avoid V Steams if you have a UTI, vaginal infection, open wounds or blisters or if you have an extremely heavy menstrual cycle. If you are pregnant or think you may be, do not have a V Steam.
